The tour includes the important Wat Xieng Thong temple, the National Museum (the former Royal Palace). We recommend a climb up the 328 steps to Phousi Mountain for rewarding views of the city.
Lunch is included at a local house, followed by some time at leisure back at your hotel.
In the last afternoon, visit a small village about half an hour away, for a traditional Lao ceremony, based upon ancient beliefs, at the end of which the village elders wrap a white cotton thread around your wrist, while chanting an invocation to strengthen the power of the blessings. Afterwards enjoy a game of petanque with some local snacks and drinks with the villagers before returning to your hotel.
Optional start at dawn, to witness the sacred ritual of monks on their daily alms rounds followed by a visit to the lively Morning Market before returning to your hotel for breakfast.

At the caves there are more than 3,000 images of Buddha, some inlaid with semiprecious stones.
Return by boat along the Mekong to Luang Prabang.
